Bishop Dr. Don G. Banks
Don Gene Banks Sr. is the son of the late Fred and Luvenia Banks. He came to know the Lord at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana. As a teenager, he united with Empire Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop Jim D. Moore Jr. It was there he reconnected with God, accepted the call to ministry and was licensed to preach the glorious Gospel. During this time he was assigned as Youth Minister.
In June of 1985 he enlisted in the United States Army and later married the former Sharalaski Patrice Moore. Their union produced three children (Le'Chia, Donecia and Don Jr (DJ). They also have one chosen child; Grace. Bishop Banks is very proud to be the grandfather of his little princess, Isis Donece Miley; who he affectionately nicknamed Bubble.
While serving in the military; he united under watch care with the Church Of God In Christ. During this time he held several different ministry assignments, such as Armor Bearer, Finance Chairman, Men Ministry President, Teacher, Evangelist and Assistant Pastor. After being honorably discharged in October of 1993, Pastor Banks came back to Empire Church of Deliverance and was ordained and later appointed as Assistant Pastor.
In February 1997, he pursued his ministry passion and founded The Greater Realness Church. Shortly thereafter, he enrolled in Omega Bible Seminary and earned his Bachelor of Biblical Studies, Masters of Ministry and Doctorate of Ministry degrees. Dr. Banks continues to serve in the community as certified master chaplain. In February 2006, he was duly consecrated as a Bishop and later re-confirmed in 2011 by the United Fellowship Of Christian Churches & Ministries and admitted into the Sacred College of Bishops under the leadership of Presiding Prelate, Bishop Dr. Henry Tindal Sr. Bishop Banks was assigned as the Louisiana Provincial Bishop in 2013 and was recently appointed as the Southwestern Jurisdictional Bishop in June of 2015.
